Groff recently received a Tony nomination for her portrayal of Bobby Darin in Broadway's Just in Time.
In addition to being an incredible performer, Jonathan Groff is also known for expelling lots of moisture while onstage. "I am a spitter. And it's just what happens to me when I perform," Groff said on a visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show, noting that he has sometimes observed audience members shielding their face with their program.
Groff explained that the way to avoid a dry mouth is by sucking on a lozenge (or "lozenger," as he calls them), a practice that he has done since performing off-Broadway in Little Shops or Horrors in 2019. "I started with a sugar-free black cherry Halls lozenge... Always in my mouth at all times, to keep it lubricated." Watch the conversation to hear Clarkson's own experience as an audience member during one of Groff's performances.
