Spokane Valley Summer Theatre will set sail with its 10th Anniversary Season when Gilbert and Sullivan's THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE opens this Friday, June 20th. The swashbuckling musical is chock-full of hilarity and guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.
Directed by Yvonne A.K. Johnson, Music Direction by David Brewster and Choreography by Andrea Olsen, this classic show will come to life with a pirate ship, a love story, a pirate king and a very modern major general. Erik Contzius, in his SVST debut, plays the Pirate King. Recent credits include Lazar Wolf (Fiddler on the Roof) and Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd). Also joining the cast is Broadway touring veteran Andrea Bates as Ruth (National Tours include South Pacific, A Chorus Line and Phantom of the Opera) and SVST fan favorite, the always hilarious Doug Dawson as Major-General Stanley. SVST newcomer Grant Measures is Frederic to the sweet Alexander Lewis as Mabel, whose SVST credits include Dinah Murphy (South Pacific) and Marty (Grease).
The cast is rounded out by Shawn Mulligan (Samuel), Ben Reincke (Sergeant of Police/Pirate), Alexandra Bright (Kate), Kathleen Vertner (Edith), Heather Stephens (Isabel), Noelle Fries (Cosette), Elly Sims(Amelia), as well as Pirates: Chase Cummings, Jordan Overturf, Jeffrey Parsons, Jim Reincke, Jayden Salazar, and Constables: Adriaan Burger, Chase Cummings, Tyson Fletcher, Tyler Heal, Lincoln Jent, and Jayden Salazar.
